Why choose The Dogchester?
Your dog deserves more than a nice-looking room. Here is what sits behind the luxury: knowledge, safety, thoughtful routines and a genuine commitment to helping dogs feel good while they are away from home.
Behaviour expertise at the heart of every stay.
The Dogchester is owned by Nanci Creedon: Clinical Animal Behaviourist, Full Member of APBC, IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and canine behaviour expert advisor to the Irish Government.
Qualifications backed by two decades of learning.
Nanci holds a BSc in Zoology from University College Cork, an MSc in Animal Behaviour & Welfare from Newcastle University and a QQI Level 5 Animal Grooming qualification — alongside continual professional development across the UK and Ireland.
A trusted expert on screen, in classrooms and in real life.
Nanci is regularly called upon by UK and Irish media, including Good Morning Britain, GB News and RTÉ’s Today Show. She starred alongside Victoria Stilwell on Channel 4’s The Dog Academy and co-presented Channel 5’s Cats & Dogs at War.
A team trained to understand dogs, not just handle them.
Nanci has spent more than 15 years teaching budding dog trainers. Our Dogchester team are each progressing through canine behaviour, dog-care and enrichment learning, helping us deliver knowledgeable, skilled and thoughtful care every day.
Secure from the moment your dog arrives.
Electric gates, security cameras, owner and family living on site, high-fenced exercise arenas and carefully managed routines all help make The Dogchester a secure place for dogs to enjoy their stay.
Real privacy, proper rest and space to decompress.
Our solid-walled rooms give dogs a genuine retreat between activities. They do not have to watch other dogs walk past their room, and dogs moving through corridors are not forced past barking neighbours either. Quiet time is planned into every stay.
Enrichment with a purpose — not activity for activity’s sake.
Nature walks, sensory play, large exercise fields, enrichment feeding and individual activities give dogs appropriate ways to sniff, explore, move, think and enjoy being dogs. Each experience is chosen around the individual.
Social Club for dogs who genuinely enjoy social time.
We assess every dog before approving them for Social Club. For suitable dogs, it can be wonderful fun and companionship; for others, we create equally enriching individual experiences. No dog is expected to socialise just because they are a dog.
Full transparency: the good, the bad and the dodgy poops.
Your dog is your family, so you should always be involved in their wellbeing. We share honest updates throughout their stay and will tell you if anything changes — yes, even if that means sending a photo of an impressive-looking poo.
Luxury that dogs can actually enjoy.
Our VIP suites offer a genuine home-from-home feel, with proper human beds, couches, armchairs, TVs and themed surroundings. Cameras in every suite support overnight monitoring, while canine relaxation content and calming routines help dogs settle.
“Beautiful surroundings are only the beginning. The real luxury is care that understands what your dog needs to feel safe, fulfilled and properly looked after.”
