Doggie Daycare at The Dogchester is not a room full of dogs left to entertain themselves all day. It is a boutique, behaviour-led club with a very limited number of places.
Our days are built around mental stimulation, enrichment, social manners, appropriate play, exercise, bonding and rest. We want dogs to go home fulfilled and content — not overtired, overwhelmed or buzzing with adrenaline.
That means plenty of activities that engage the brain’s thinking system: choice-led games, problem-solving, scent work and training exercises that give dogs something positive to focus on.
Everything is planned around welfare.

Dogs are grouped by size, confidence, social style and play preferences — never just placed together because there is space.

Social interaction can be wonderful for the right dogs — but not every dog enjoys the same kind of company, and not every dog needs group play.
We keep a close eye on play styles, confidence, body language and arousal levels. Our trained team step in early when dogs need a break, a reset or a different activity.

Our routine will flex around the individual dogs attending, but every day is designed to balance activity with processing time and proper rest.

Nature walks, sniffing, nose work, training games and suitable social opportunities keep minds and bodies engaged.
Quiet time, normally from 12–2pm, gives dogs the chance to decompress, sleep and avoid becoming overtired.

We keep daycare groups small and carefully managed so every dog gets the attention, supervision and thoughtful care they deserve.
Small dogs can attend Monday to Friday, with groups matched for size, confidence and social compatibility.
Larger dogs can attend Monday to Friday, with suitable companions and activities chosen for their individual needs.

Based in Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire, The Dogchester is convenient for dog owners travelling through the M74 corridor, including Lanark, Larkhall, Hamilton and nearby communities.
Daycare is available Monday to Friday at £30 per dog per day, including VAT. Drop-off is between 7am and 10am and collection is normally between 4pm and 7pm.

We will ask about their age, size, health, previous daycare experience, confidence and social behaviour around other dogs.
Full-day assessment
During a full daycare day, we gradually assess your dog’s comfort, body language, play style, ability to settle and suitability for group activities.

Once approved, we will confirm availability and help build a regular, manageable Doggie Daycare routine for your dog.
