Doggie Daycare at The Dogchester is not a room full of dogs left to entertain themselves all day. It is a boutique, behaviour-led club with a very limited number of places.
Our days are built around mental stimulation, enrichment, social manners, appropriate play, exercise, bonding and rest. We want dogs to go home fulfilled and content — not overtired, overwhelmed or buzzing with adrenaline.
That means plenty of activities that engage the brain’s thinking system: choice-led games, problem-solving, scent work and training exercises that give dogs something positive to focus on.
Everything is planned around welfare.

Dogs are grouped by size, confidence, social style and play preferences — never just placed together because there is space.

Our team are trained in canine body language, healthy play and calmly interrupting interactions before they become too intense.

We use enrichment, nose work, training games and cognitive activities to create genuinely satisfying days, not just physically tiring ones.
Good social time is calm, well matched and closely watched.
Social interaction can be wonderful for the right dogs — but not every dog enjoys the same kind of company, and not every dog needs group play.
We keep a close eye on play styles, confidence, body language and arousal levels. Our trained team step in early when dogs need a break, a reset or a different activity.

Fun is only one part of a good daycare day.
Our routine will flex around the individual dogs attending, but every day is designed to balance activity with processing time and proper rest.
Gentle arrivals, familiar routines and calm introductions help each dog start their day feeling safe.
Nature walks, sniffing, nose work, training games and suitable social opportunities keep minds and bodies engaged.
Quiet time, normally from 12–2pm, gives dogs the chance to decompress, sleep and avoid becoming overtired.
More thoughtful activity, bonding, enrichment and calm social time before home-time.
Dedicated days for different dogs.
We are launching with a maximum of six dogs per day, so every dog gets the attention, supervision and thoughtful care they deserve.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday are reserved for our smaller guests, helping us keep play fair, comfortable and safe.
Tuesday and Thursday are for larger dogs, with groups carefully matched by confidence, play style and social compatibility.
Every dog starts with an individual assessment.
Limited places mean we can be selective — in the nicest possible way. Our goal is to create groups where dogs can genuinely thrive.
