The Dogchester Luxury Dog Hotel

A special place for dogs, built on a shared love of exceptional care.

From its beginnings as Brian and Margaret Straub’s vision of a paradise for dogs, to the behaviour-led luxury experience it is today.

Our story

The Dogchester began with a simple but beautiful vision.

The Dogchester was opened in 2017 by Brian and Margaret Straub, who wanted to create something far beyond a conventional boarding kennel: a true paradise for dogs.

Their vision was a luxury dog hotel where every guest could enjoy comfort, individual care, beautiful surroundings and the space to truly enjoy their time away from home. They created the remarkable foundation that The Dogchester is built on today.

Luxury is only the beginning.

Every stay is designed around more than simply providing a beautiful room and exercise.

We think about how dogs feel, what helps them settle, what brings them joy, and how we can make their time with us genuinely positive and fulfilling. From VIP packages and nature walks to enrichment feeding, relaxation treatments and daily photo and video updates, every detail has purpose.

It is luxury with wellbeing behind it — where every dog is seen as an individual, not simply a booking.
